Lots! of work and time.
Basically in a nutshell... i took a look at all the factory bezels i could find, and i designed the bezel on my computer - depth, height, mounting locations, etc! Then i made it using some wood from a hobby store, i cut the pieces to size, moulded them together, sanded, primered, sanded, primered, sanded, painted... etc etc.
sort of the same method to this tutorial.

I will have the rest of the stuff mounted up in the trunk and the glove box in a few weeks - and i will see if i can make a real detailed step by step then. This sort of project is not for the faint of heart, its a lot of work either way you cut it... but VERY rewarding

Re: very impressive and Tozo I am going foward with the sound via the existing amp
why would you need a keyboard and mouse? why not just mount a touchscreen in the dash, and not worry about typing and all that crap while you are driving.
Also, keep in mind for the the other stuff like the hub, dvd rom and stuff, they all use different voltages. Stuff like the monitor also requires a CONSTANT 12v which (in my case) can only vary from 11.6 to 13v. This is why you cannot simply just hook it up directly to the battery, because a car battery can vary anywhere from 11 to 14 volts.
I am using an "opus" car power supply, which is dc-dc... which is basically made for a Mini-ITX motherboard! - This power supply takes in 12 volts from the battery and outputs a constant 7v and a constant 5v - use the 5v output for your usb hub, dvd rom and stuff, and using the 7v+5v together to get the constant 12v for the screen, and your set
nice part about that power supply is that it also has a "remote wire" which is from the alternator that says the car is "on" - so it will only power up the power supply when the car is turned on!!!
i'll post up more info when i have mine done.

Wow! That is nice, when did you make it?
I love it, very unique. Here it is with a keyboard. I like to use the keyboard and the mouse. Keeps the screen fingerprint free and much easier to type address into the GPS. The Winamp I am using has shortcuts so it is easy to use with the keyboard.
