Default Dead battery> HELP !!!!!!!

Is there a way to get the car started without getting to the battery in the trunk. All I have is the valet key. Call me stupid, but I left my valet key instead of the full feature key with my father to start my vehicle while I am deployed. Is there a secondary jump start point under the hood. Any ideas how I can get it started?

Default Isn't there a release

in the drivers door B pillar? Lower RH corner if you open the drivers door.

Default Re: Isn't there a release

When my battery went dead, the trunk release on the drivers door jam did not operate. My key also did not work on the trunk lock. I bought a memory saver (small battery holder that plugs into lighter for saving memory settings when battery is disconnected). I put jumper cables from a good battery onto the leads from this and then I could pop the trunk open.

Default I think I found a solution

I found out through the VW dealer of all places that you can cut a FULL feature key from your valet key. I am having one cut today. I will keep you posted.

Default If it's an 00 and newer, won't work

They will need to recode the ECU and immobilizer.

If it's a 99 and older, it will work.

Why not just go to pep boys and get a charger for the cigarette lighter in the car, charge it for a day and start it up?

Default Paul you are the king

Fortunately it is a '97. I had a duplicate valet made for FREE, yes FREE at a VW dealer. I will see if that works. If it doesn't, then I will try the lighter charger. Will I have to reprogram my remotes? If so, how do I do that after a dead battery. THanks

Default Valet key is the key

Ok, my battery was dead, I had no way of getting in the trunk. All I had was the valet key. Don't even ask. I had a full feature key cut from the valet key. I was able to get into the trunk that way. Just FYI. Thanks for all your help.
