There are some instances when a dealers ignorence or unfamiliarity with the A8 can work to your advantage, but not many.
I finally got a date to book my UK '00 4.2 in for a new thermostat. Ouch that's going to cost you I hear you say thro' gritted teeth, 4-5hrs labour etc.
You can imagine my surprise when the nice young lady on the end of the telephone said "It's quite expensive I'm affraid Sir, with VAT (17.5%) parts and labour it comes to £197.84"
Needless to say I agreed and it went in yesterday for the work to be done. When I picked the car up in the evening, another nice young lady enquired "Who quoted this work for you Sir?" I didn't tell, but I'm sure she is not too popular as the quoted (and paid) price was over £200.00 under what it should have been.
And it came back as clean and polished as the day it was made.
Hey that's almost three tanks of fuel for free!!!
