$1480/month? for 2 years?
If the car MSRP'd around $80K, for example, and you put down $15K, and the residual was around $47K, that leaves $18K ($750/month for 24 months) to finance on the lease. Figuring in the money factor, that increases, but how did it jump to $1480/month???

Wait.. Sorry, a decent chunk of that 15k was going towards my 01 A4 2.8. I forgot all about that. It needed repairs to the underside, it was 900 dollars to fix 1 thing + getting out of the lease. They raped me on that but I wanted the S8 so I took it.
So the money down the S8 alone was a lot less, I just throw it all on that # on my lease to pay it. Didn't matter to me what it showed up on.
Reason for initial lease was business car so it could be written off, so it looks like I spent a lot but I got it write the whole thing off so I came out decent. And now that the lease is over that part is meaningless anyway. I am at a point now where I either turn in the car OR I buy a 01 S8 with 7,800 miles on it for $47,537.00+tax Seems like a deal.

FWIW, dealers dont want used cars. They are getting killed on the residuals. They are trying to make a go of it with their certified programs, but the cars arent worth their resids.
I cant imagine putting 15k down on a lease. If you totaled the car, you lose that 15k period. Insurance pays off AFS for their investment in the car. You are totally uncovered for your 15k.
If biz is paying for car, many people put down no money and buy down the residual with monthly lease payments so that at the end of the lease they can buy the car at the resid and sell it at market, pocketing the diff. The lease payments are paid by the biz, but you pocket the termination value.
