I am 33 and haven't seen any other guys my age driving this car, but I have always been very much into cars that aren't popping up all over the place ... hence my ownership of an A8 along with a Subaru SVX. 
I have to admit though that sometimes I feel like I'm driving my dad's car, but it's such a special vehicle that I get over it pretty quickly.

I believe the "target" market is similar, although different means to an end for both cars. If memory correct, target market is $250K a year, male, some type of exec position or private business owner in their mid-50s.
Although I find this laughable (you don't need that kind of income to get into one), I suspect the majority of D3 owners do fall into this category. In my opinion, the issue isn't affordability of an ~$80K car, it is in being able to justify it. As an alternative, >$1200/month over twenty years is a pretty sweet gift for one's children.
In addition, on a percentage basis I believe the majority don't know about this forum. Many on this forum (myself included) are driving used Audis, so presenting this question may not give accurate numbers ...
