Default Does ROSS-TECH has a wireless interface?

Would it make sense to have a secured wireless 801.a,b,or g interface? Aside from being able to connect in the cockpit (unless there is another way), has anyone hooked up a wireless starter to your A8/S8? Also, it would eliminate the need to hook up all the time(not that it is hard now) If Ross-Tech had wireless you could start your A8/S8 in the AM before you go out the door and perform checks and set the tranny for you desired driving while eating breakfast and reading the paper. Now that is pampered.

If a wireless was available could it be easily coded to a PDA? Not pushing here just curious and
Just wondering :-). I am considering getting it.

I have a friend who has the wireless starter, but not in an Audi and that gave me the idea.

Default Don't think that works technically.

Default I bet you I get pounded on that tech board.

Of course I am kidding... Kind of. If they have a serial and a usb hookup why not attach a wireless connection? The techs/mechanics on that forum will probabaly have a blast with my post. That lazy a8 driver... can't even get out in the cold and hook up his... I can here it now... Just having fun...

Default BlueTooth would make more sense for that than 802.11a/b/g IMO.

To me, it seems to be easier to package with/in smaller devices than 802.11. Look at all the PDAs that come standard with BT and not 802.11.

Default Irda

Irda would be simple and cheap to do. You have to only buy an usb to irda cable.

Default I never found Irda to be very useful or reliable.

I'm sure it works great for something, but I never found it.

Don't forget, we're talking about a very time-critical datastream here that apparently doesn't tolerate many dropped bits / retransmissions and such.

I agree, but it´s a cheap solution. I think someone will find a good solution.
