Looks like my mirror goo went bad in my 1998 A8 (chemical material darkened most of it) The top 5th is clear but the rest is dark.
Is there anyway to fix it or do I just replace the glass.

If you need a new mirror, I have a new, never used driver side mirror. It is heated and anti-dazzle. I ordered it and my '98 does not have the auto dimming feature so I am going to get the plain heated mirror.

Will the standard mirror without the dimming goo work in on a 1998. I am thinking of saving the $150 a getting the standard one if it will work.
How hard are they to install?

My indy shop replaced my leaking dimming mirror with a regular mirror, so I know they will fit. I don't know how hard they are to replace, but I think not that hard. How much were you quoted for a standard non-dimming mirror? I think I paid $40 for mine...

Do the OEM mirrors without the dimming feature have the black trim around the edges? I looked at the install and it seems easy enough.
I guess its time to call the dealer.
