Default Driver's Side wind noise/turbulence

I have posted about this before and received some helpful stuff but I'm still trying to solve my wind noise/turbulence from the driver's side door area problem on my '01 S8. The problems seems to be getting worse. Had the door checked for alignment -- supposedly perfectly aligned. I'm beginning to believe that the mirror is the issue and I would like to take it apart as there are some threads on the A6 Forum that suggest the problem may be there. Q: Does the interior door panel have to come off to access that rectangular piece that covers the mirror? Anyone have any diagrams, etc., or advice? Thanks.

Default I don't know if you have to remove the trim, for what you're talking about. I suspect you do.

In any case, here's a<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/24430.phtml">Front door trim removal thread, with super-high-tech visual aids.</a></li></ul>

Did you check window frame alignment? Door and window are aligned separately!

Try using electrical tape on the small gap between the mirror housing and the mirror arm.

Thanks. Presume the door panel must come off for that job.

Default What's the condition of the vertical rubber molding ...

mounted inside the door and directly in front of the front door hinges? I can probably imagine a case where wind leaking in here could produce assorted noises.

Thanks for the diagram. Got a long weekend to try to solve the problem.

Default BTW, what are you using to condition the gaskets?

Vinylol (or however you spell the Lexol product) or Aerospace 303 Protectant are about the only things acceptable in my book.

You do have to remove the inner door panel to get to mirror and also to adjust window tracking to door fram alignment
