Default Re: Don't get winter tires, get 18" winter wheels with all season tires...Agreed!

Looks great, just like the OEM 5 spokes, but I think I would love the RS6 wheels at 18" with the Michelin Pilot's. Look three would look great on the car! For my "winter wheels" I aim to get someting more beefy!

Chronic, I visited my dealer today to check on the status of my car. Its in the "build process" and I should have it mid August. While there, I spoke with the shop forman and a few A8 mechanics about the wheel situation. If I put 18" wheels on the car for winter driving, the car should be re-calibrated twice a year taking into consideration the different circumferences ect. I thought that I had found a wheel with the correct offsets but it was only "close". Of course shims could be added...................I decided to buy 19" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires and have them mounted when the car arrives. The mechanics assured me that my car will "go in the snow" or I could use their four wheel drive Jeeps! I could always use my RSX but isnt this silly? Its a QUATTRO!!! Thanks Chronic.

I decided to go with the 19" wheel all year round and add the 19" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S`s. I didnt want to go through the process of recalibrating the wheels twice a year. I looked at the RS6 wheel on a new RS6 that had just arrived. Nice wheel but the offset was different than the A8L. You could add shims to it but the more I considered it, the less enthused I was about the 18`s. Oh wll, if the snow is bad, Ill drive the Corvette which has 18" wheels!!!

Does the A/C cool more quickly once you start to drive?

I sat in an 04 A8L at my dealer yesterday and I turned on the A/C and , lo and behold, I started to count the minutes until the damn thing started to cool. My Acura RL cools a car in 100 degree weather within 2 minutes and I mean COOL. My del. date is in Aug. and I now have my doubts after reading some of these posts.
