Default The easy way to install a hands free phone if you have a 98 or newer

I have finally put this together by popular demand. This is how I wired airbill's bluetooth phone into his Nav Plus (almost the same, but not exact pin assignments as compared to the concert and symphony).

This is the connection diagram for the Concert and Symphony radios. Just take off the right hand side tunnel cover, pull your radio and make the connections up and wire your antenna/mic and put everything back together.

If you have a 97 with a Delta radio THIS WON'T WORK. This is due to the fact that it does not have a Connector IV....it uses a phone mute relay in the trunk, where the newer radios have everything built into it. Plus the 97's are wired directly from the DB-25 in the trunk to the B pillar speaker...all 98 and newers are wired from the radio to the B pillar speaker.

Amazing what you can learn about the differences in these cars if you spend (waste) enough time.

Default My connector #IV is missing pins 3 & 4.

5&6 are there, but 3&4 are blank. Could the speaker wires be going somewhere else?

Default Solved

I "went for it" and used pins 5 & 6, it works wonderful. Thanks a ton for all your help! First mod, 1 for 1.

Default This looks helpful. QUESTION Paul,I think I want to install bluetooth as opposed to other

phone integration options in my 2001 with analog factory phone. Where did you install the bluetooth brain? Is there room behind the radio in dash? Can it go in trunk and use existing wiring in car? Did you connect the mic in the car? Thanks.

Default Do you have any pictures of that?

I will have to change the diagram....you use 5 and 6?

Here is what the Bently has for the pin out:

10-pin multi-pin connector IV, red

1 - Telephone muting
2 - Terminal 15 (only for navigation equipment)
3 - Telephone (NF+) (not for navigation equipment)
4 - Telephone (NF-) (not for navigation equipment)
5 - Navigation (NF+)
6 - Navigation (NF-)
7 - Navigation control wire
9 - Illumination display (terminal 58d)
10 - CD-Ground (GND)

Did you take any pictures?

Did you connect the power, ground, etc. up like I said? Did it work? Just want to make sure.

The blue tooth brain needs to be near the driver, cause it has to communicate with the phone. We put airbill's on the left side of the console, tucked in right near the radio.

We ran the mic up to the headliner....and the little answer/hang up/use voice commands thing just to the left of the shifter.

Default It was a piece of cake.

I didn't get any pictures because I don't own a digital camera, I know, it's a sorry excuse. I'll see if I can borrow one because I need to go back in there anyway to hook up a XM FM modulator kit.

I wired it up exactly like you're diagram, it worked perfectly and was real easy. After I went to Circuit City to borrow their radio puller (nice guy) it took me all of 30 minutes to wire it up. The unit came with wire connectors, so it literally was a "snap". The only exceptions was that I used pin 5 & 6 (as opposed to 3 & 4 on the red connector)for the speakers.

Default My "hot weather" A8 needs outside antenna

I have the analog phone in my 2000 A8 and I'm thinking of installing something more up-to-date. I have a V60, although not an Audi-branded one and I have some concern as to whether it would play nice with my car or not. I'd like to use the external antenna if possible because my hot-weather-package car shields RF pretty well through its windows. But the antenna wire is waaaay back in the trunk instead of up in the armrest where life would be easy. Do you have any suggestions, Obi-wan Audi?

Default Here's a post from before....I have a great antenna now...reception everywhere!

I put the Terk antenna in my car when I first installed my V60 hands free phone....it did not seem to work correctly, I don't know if it's because I had a bad connection, or probably just not the correct frequency band type antenna.

I bought a new one, with my car all torn apart (still is, neither console side panel is on), I put it in.

It is tuned to the range of AT&T's frequencies, I know that if you have Verizion, you need a different antenna because of a different type system and different frequencies.

I get reception in places where I wouldn't before, and can talk hands free. There are a few dead areas right near my ex's house. Works now.

$49.00 - plus installation!
