I'm buying my boss' 2000 A8 and I noticed its engine oil is above the "max" full line. I know some cars get very unhappy with too much oil. Should I bother to get a pump and remove some oil or ignore it?

Past experience with my 3.6l V8 quattro: 3.6 engine takes 8 qt, 4.2 engine takes 10 qt, the genius at the dealer overfilled and I did not notice for a couple of weeks. Ended up replacing O2 sensors. I would get the extra oil out of there.

You could damage your catalytic converters. Don't chance it. If it's at the full line or less, you're okay.
