so i get my car tinted and the guy comes in and is like your car doesnt run right? HUH I go out into the garage and the EPC lite and the check engine lite is on?
I call my buddy that works on the 8 and he says that his guess according to what happened is the TPS sensor got confused cause someone stepped on the gas before the car was started. He saidd to cycle the ignition a couple of times WITHOUT hitting the gas. I do this and the problem goes away no EPC ... But still check engine lite.
I got soemone to pull and clear the codes
Seven codes. I didnt write them down but throttle pos. fuel something multi misfire # , #7 and a couple others.
You think it's ok or should i bring it in? I figure all the codes were from this "gas peddle thing" WIERD

They replaced his coil packs on all cylinders. He never maintains his cars, so I dont know if a well kept car could avoid this problem. You could try clearing the codes and switching coil packs and see what happens. good luck

Sounds like it could be ignition coil(s). Currently (see separate post re ignition coils above under Ozie) the only way to check is to move the suspect coil from the cylinder that registered the knock to another cylinder and see if the knock moves. I have done this with two coils and replaced them with instant performance restored. That was some months ago and I think the other 6 are now suspect. It would be really helpful if someone has a better way of testing coils to post same.

Thanks for the replies they were really helpful. the car has not acted up at all since then. A funny thing though sometimes when in 2nd around 1500 rpms and i jump on it the car will rev to 2500 and then down to like 2200-2300 then back up smooth till 5+. strange i may check more. runs really good otherwise, good MPG, quick, etc.
Thank you again.
Thank you again.
