I'll give him benefit of the doubt and say that THEY only CPO cars with in service dates under 4 yrs old. Not that Audi doesn't allow older cars than that. I honestly don't know Audi's requirements as I only worked w/ used cars when I worked w/ Acura.

Hi,
I am new to this forum and new to Audis (well almost new, my wife owned a 98 A6 at one time).
I am the one that bought this car in Nashua, and just discovered this forum and saw that there was a discussion about this car.
it did come with a pile of receipts for the car. it was leased initially from that dealership and was serviced there so they had records from new.
the engine was also changed there. I guess the previous owner blew the motor and had a warranty on it.
there was no warranty with the car because of its age and mileage...of course I could buy one but I didnt.
what a car this is. I love it. never owned an S-anything. I am hooked.

Congratulations. It's good to hear that the engine was a new one from Audi and work performed there. Whew! It certainly looks like it would be beautiful in person. Those photos probably don't do it justice.

hi, I received a pile of receipts from them which had a rather large one with the engine change on it.
oh well. its mine now with no warranty. keep my fingers crossed.
which brings me to my big question.
how reliable is the 4.2 v8? I thought they were bullet proof. unless you starve the oil or break a timing belt, I cant imagine many Audi owners are replacing spontaneously combusting engines each day.

My 99 A8 4.2 has been great with 150k on it. I had one faulty fan cluttch that forced me to do a timing belt well before I had to. Valve stem seals are a worthwhile fix when you get over 100k.
Also, if you start the car and quickly shut it off (move/park), you will likely see the smoke on the next startup. It might freak you out, I had it happen at 80k and was like wtf hehe

Our 2002 S8 is Pearlized Espresso Brown. Looks almost black in anything but bright sunshine. Very pretty and unique color in the right light. I don't know how a color is "sporty". I'd go get a pix, but it's raining and the car's a mess right now.
