Considering replacing the '99 A6 avant 2.5TDI tip with a newer A8 2.5TDI tip.

-What model year was the facelift? I see some facelifted cars stated as '99s, but also some non-facelifted cars stated as '99s.

-Did the facelift fix anything important (ie other things than merely cosmetic changes)?

-Did all A8 2.5TDI have quattro after the facelift?

-Anything in particular I need to know about the A8 2.5TDI 180hp? I've heard horror stories about the 2.5TDI 150hp that sits in my A6, but never had any engine trouble myself.

Feel free to reply in German/Dutch/French/Spanish/Italian/Scandinavian languages if equally English-impaired as me.

In the US it was 00. They made the car a little nicer, mostly a different dash and center console, much improved armrests....but basically the car is the same.

Most of us own a 4.2 quattro, which is about 99% of the cars that came to the states.....
