looking at switching from an MX5 (Miata) to an A8 - must be getting old !
Currently looking at 97/98 4.2s - can someone tell me the difference between the regular 4.2 and the Sport for that model (and which one should I buy ?).
Also, anything in particular to watch for ?

Hi Stewart,
There are some variations from market to market, some markets don't have a "sport" version, but instead one or more optional "sports packages".
As far as I know, the UK sports version has what is called "full sports package" in other markets, but also some other options included. I belive the sunshades is a part of the package.
The "full sports package" consists of the S8 suspension (on post facelifts, 3/'99 I believe the springs differ, S8 is a bit lower), 18" 7-spoke wheels with 245/45-18 tires, Recaro seats with memory package (same as S8) and the sports steering wheel with the S-badge.
Since the normal model specs also vary between the different markets and model years (each distributor decides what their basic model should be), it is very hard to tell the exact differences between the sport and the normal model. But options mentioned will always be a part of a sport version.
My advice, get the sport! The Recaros are brilliant.
