Default exaust system removal update.

Got a couple hrs in on removal and some time really looking underneath car and looking at Hisport's post on seal replacment. The slip couplers released after heating and wd-40 spray. The drivers side cat is now removed the oxygen sensor coupler in under floormat panel. nice to remove from car altogether. Removed entire exhaust system from cats back prior to drivers side car removal. Now the big one!! The pass side cat location to those torx bolts on trans pan. No way are we going to fool with the pass side down pipe from engine compartment, can't even see the nuts behind collector, much less get a scocket on them. Get a # 27 torx bit with a 1/4" hex drive, cut it down to a overall hight of aprox . 750. and use a 1/4" small box wrench, some 3-M to hold hex bit to box wrench and it works, will most likely replace with metric allen bolts when done. Thats all for now, next week the pan, heat shields, drive shaft and real seal. Any imput on oxygen sensor replacment cycle??? Easy to do now??? Not so when back together. Thanks stay tuned. jmn

Default Re: oxygen sensors

I'd believe they're good for at least 100k miles these days, and when the go "bad", it's usually because response gets sluggish. If you've got a lot of miles on them, it might be prudent to replace them while it's an easy job.

Default no DB meter, but it's more conection with A-8

Got turned off in motorsports largely because of the mandated use of mufflers in road racing. At Laguna Secs the loudest sound on my GT-1 car came from the intake!! With ear plugs for the radio to crew, I lost a little conection with my car could not hear the motor rev quite right. Started using the Tach more, whereas before for 30 years I used exhaust pitch to know when to shift. You don't look down you listen and full another gear. My other hot rods have good exhaust tone, so thats why this little mod should be interesting??? Not on a lift sadly, but will take pictures, do weights, ect as best I can, thanks, john
