Extended Warranty Trouble

if you ever had an oil related claim, change back to synthetic. I highly doubt that they would do an oil analysis.
A regular "high mileage" oil will swell up the seals a little and it might even stop. If you can get a pic, post it here.
I can tell you how it compares to the three D2's I've owned.

I never heard of a rear seal leak on the D2 unless it has a lot of milleage. Cam tensioners leak all the time and the way they leak it looks as if its coming from the rear seal. Make sure your mechanic checks those before you start pulling any trannys out.
I would say that even the dealer manufacturer warranties can be problematic. My cam adjuster seals were leaking and I had to call AoA and yell at them to approve the claim. The dealer was telling me that an oil drop was not forming fast enough! I left the car at the dealership for almost 2 weeks and I wasn't picking it up until they confirmed that the car was repaired. You have to talk "their language" when it comes to that. When they are selling the car they are telling you that everything is covered, when its time for them to fix it they find a million and one excuses not to.

I agree with you about the coverage. I have another car where an exhaust manifold stud sheared off and caused an exhaust leak. Exhaust manifolds were explicitly on the list of things covered, but they said studs are not covered and refused to pay the claim. Because of the tight quarters it cost me several hundred bucks to have fixed.

In Etos, under "repair kits" in the engine section
there is a part #068-198-171 which might be the seal itself without the whole flange. Maybe Tozo or one of the other knowledgeable guys can verify this.
