Default Fan source.

So The heater fan came out Sunday evening. "Just to check it out" The blower had displayed all the symptoms mentioned in the audipages tech section. (Those articles are GREAT!) I thought I might make some improvements, if only to relube the plain bearings.
No such luck!
The motor armature looks just like the photo in the "How To". Worn to a taper. Plus, the brushes are worn till the leads bottom in the holder, effectively interrupting contact whenever the armature slides off to the side (rounding a bend)

With part numbers in hand, ( also needed are the belly pan fasteners and hardware for the A6) I went to the inter-web to find a source.

Not so lucky.
The usual Blau, Auto parts warehouse and Audi parts direct, show no listings for the D2 heater fans.

Recomendations?

TIA

CalG

PS
I used a 1/4 inch drive ratchet, long extension, universal joint, short extension, 1/4 inch socket with a + driver bit to get the two "hard ones" when removing the fan cowl. Worked just fine.

Thanks

I tried that site again just now.

Entering "Audi 1999 A8 Heater fan"
NO items available is returned.

A case of something just a bit off in the search effort.

Oh well, No thing can be every thing to every one.

Type part number 4D0959101 into "search by factory part number" field. It will come up that way. Or search drill down by model, HVAC, Controls, Blower Motor. It will come up that way as well.

http://genuineaudiparts.com</a

next time.

When I looked at this site at last night with "dialup" i just couldn't try searching with a different string.

I suppose it's that frustration that prompted the post for a source suggestion this morning.

Funny how that all works.
