Farewell

I just did the opposite of Chronic it appears, and have joined Dinan as an RS6 owner. The deal I was given for the new car, as well as the trade value for the A8l made it hard to passup.
It is unfortunate that my A8 seemed to be plagued with early production problems, none of which were major, so I decided to trade it in. The new A8 is a fantastic machine, and a technological wonder. I just happened to get one that had a number of problems. I also had a bit of problem with the size of the car. It did drive like a much smaller car, and handled well, but it just never felt quite right to me.
Good luck all, I will be joining Dinan on the other board-unless he switches back to the A8L.
Chronic, I see you just bid farewell to the A6/RS6 board. Have fun with the new car.

helper, good luck with the RS6. What a machine! Well, lets see, thats two A8L`s for two RS6`s. If the deals are as good as I suspect, Audi understands what they have to do. Thats good news. helper, check in once and awhile and let us know how you are doing. Bon Voyage!!

Hello Guys:
Would someone explain briefly to a complete ignoramus what an RS6 is (see, I warned you I was ignorant) and why someone would trade in an A8 for one?
I never saw an RS6 lurking around the Audi showroom. Is it some kind of secret car?

The A8 and the RS6 are two totally different cars. The RS6 is a racing machine. Audi is importing approx. 900 into the US, and then will stop production. They started shipping them in July, which is why you havn't seen any probably. The Audi website has pictures. No doubt the car is overpriced, but it is a lot of fun. It has essentially the body of an A6, with a 4.2 liter(I think the A8 engine) and twin turbochargers. It has a sports suspension, with DRC-dynamic ride control which keeps the car level when cornering but a totally different system then the A8. Modified shifters, a number of appearance changes, tires etc. as well as special leather seats (feels a lot like the seats in the A8 with less adjustments however).
The car as I said is totally different from the A8, it is a race bred sports sedan that can also haul the family (track times are around 0-60 in 4.3 sec). The A8 is luxury car with sporting capabilities.
Many also say the RS6 is overpriced, which at 82K it probably is, but I love it so far. Maybe part of that is because I am 50, and need a mid-life crisis car that my wife can drive and live with. I hope to get to the track with it.
I got a great trade in for the A8L, and a nice discount on the RS6, which as near as I can tell is not being discounted (yet!). Will I miss the A8L, time will tell, I wish mine had been trouble free, and that I could aford another along with the RS6 I sort of "fell into."

Watched sympathetically from the sidelines as you went through your A8 troubles, and sorry to hear you went in a differnet direction. But the RS6 is a great machine...enjoy the quick ride.

Overpriced, underpriced it really does not matter. Audi produces another car pretty much in the same price range AND TO YOUR LIKING! Thats the key. Have a ball helper!
