Default Ferodo 2500 pads and ECS Tuning rotors arrived! Along with a few more goodies.

I ordered the Bosch Charcoal Cabin filters, these are much better than the ones wendy was sending us. The cheap ones are just filters with paper element. The charcoal ones absorb odor and are much better about keeping pollen and dust out.

I ordered a Slim slot loading DVD-RW for the carputer Now i can burn cd's and dvds on the fly LITERALLY!

I also bought a 2nd VGA touchscreen monitor for my rear passangers so they can play too.

And for more fun An Alpine V12 4 channel amp to replacing my dying Pioneer amp in the trunk.

On the list this weekend:
Install Brakes and rotors
Flush power steering fluid (mine looks nasty)
Install computer components and amp

Drive around with a smile on my face all day.

Default Internal cooling vanes versus external slots

Ignore the external slots and use the curved internal cooling vanes to determine the direction of rotation, as shown in this AP Racing drawing.

Some rotors use straight radial vanes, and these discs can be mounted either way. The slots themselves will work fine sloping either way, but the "traditional" direction is as shown in the AP Racing drawing or in this pic of my right side brakes.

Default I'm gealous! ECS Tuning answered me: "Those will not fit your car your car uses a different carrier"

I did not find anything else like ECS rotors for euro spec A8.

Default why would you not want the vanes to go the other direction?

I would think that would pull more over the rotors.

Default

The way randy has it will allow for centrifugal force to "pull the air out" with less resistance.

Default

would have thought it be better to push the air in.

Default It it were to rotate opposite...

Then the angle of the vanes will direct the air into the rotor however the centrifugal force will push against it, reducing airflow greatly

Default KaMaKaZieP's correct ...

The centrifugal pumping action creates the stronger force, and rotation as shown avoids the conflict and turbulence as air exits at the circumference, which would just reduce flow.

I am curious, though, as to how big the difference would actually be. When I first got my Alcon set-up, I received two left-side discs by mistake, and I ran this way for about a month until a replacement right-side disc arrived. I didn't notice any problems, but if I had thought about it, I would have done a hard braking test and then measured disc temp with an infrared pyrometer.

Here's how the wrong way rotor looked at night ...

Just kidding :-)
