Hello everyone!

Per my previous post I am the proud new owner of a 03 S8.
Car is currently in the air so it can be gone through with a fine tooth comb. All fluids will be replaced and everything inspected. Along with a little exhaust work.
This brings me to a couple questions which I could not find the answers to by searching.

1. Does this car have any sort of "pre-cats" or "pups" as some people call them. I just traced back from the primary cats and it goes right into the manifold. My C5's and the A4 all had Pre-Cats.

2. Does the transmission have a separate "gear oil" that needs replaced besides the much discussed transmission fluid service ?


3. Anyone had any dealings with VAST? RE: Chip Tuning?

I've been talking to Prince @ Vast and they seem pretty keen on tuning for the S8, and claim to have experience. After the exhaust I'd love to have a chip or tune put on the car but I'd prefer some feedback from you guys first.

And VAST does have experience tuning S8's. They pushed the S8 engine in Baskins A6 4.2 to around 420hp (with exhaust, etc.)

Question 1 - no

Question 2 - yes, fill plug is located next to the passenger side axle shaft where it comes out of the front diff

On the same note, the center diff (final drive I think Audi calls it) also has gear oil in it. It is actually bolted to the end of the transmission, fill plug is on the right (passenger) side of the unit just above the exhaust. I was able to get to it by using some swivels and wobble extensions and went between the bottom of the car and over the top of the right (passenger) exhaust pipe to the side of the final drive.
