Default floor jack and jackstands?

I always like to get jackstands in before working under a car, but I'm having trouble finding good spots to put them, the jack is always in the way. Any tips?

Default 18'7" high? Big. 72' diameter? Unwieldy. 20,000 lb. payload? Priceless.

Sorry, it's raining on a Sunday afternoon. The CH-54 is probably over-engineering in this case. (But it would be a handsome stylish way to R&R brake pads.)

Default well, yes but.

when I use a floor jack at the factory point, its hard to get a jackstand there at the same point, so how do you do that?

Default If it's a safety issue, do what I do...

I have the stands and a piece of 2X4 bearing a little weight on the sills, but leaving most of the weight on the jack at the OEM points. If, somehow, the jack(s) let go the stands would catch the car on the sills. At that point in time, were it to happen, you would not worry about your sills (and they'd probably be OK anyway).

Default Thats what I want to do, but

Thats what I want to do, but I can't figure out how to get the jackstand there when the floor jack is in the way.

Or are you using the floor jack at some other point , such as on the sill the way Always Overcharged suggests?
