Default Floor mats or carpet section..the same or different??

My A8L has front mats that have a thick piece of foam attached to the underside, that fits into a cutout section of the floorboard. Is this a mat or part of the carpet?? IE: Is it intended to have a thin carpet mat installed on top of this piece or not? What about rubber mats for foul weather....do they go on top of this carpet/foam piece or do they come with the foam piece attached??

Default That's the carpet - there are carpet and rubber mats available.

(BTW - does anyone know if the above fit well in earlier A8's?)

Default Multi-season VS. OEM floor mats

Thanks for response. Dealer parts guy didn't know!! Audi catalog lists multiseason carpet mats with A8 logo for '97-'99 for $58 front $60 rear. It lists OEM mats for '01 without logo at $186 front $139 rear!! (I erroneously thought at this high price the foam piece on the underside was included) Why the huge price difference for '01? Will the multiseason logo mats for '97-'99 fit an '01...anyone try it??, or are they actually different sizes??
