Default Glad we could be of help ;-) I would definately replace the breather hoses....

and the cam cover seals. The key to getting the rear cam seal to work is to clean off all the old varnish that has accumulated in and around the seal area. Use a brass brush and WD-40 to completely clean all the brown/golden gunk off of ALL the mating surfaces and in the flat o-ring groove.

Default Re: the intake manifold is fairly heavy

Since the main casting is magnesium, I'm a bit surprised. Is the weight from the internals?

Default the throttle body stays bolted on, plus valves and stuff

it's not *heavy*, heavy, I'm guessing it's about 20-25 lbs. It's just heavy when you've got your arms straight out in front of you and have to lift it *straight* up in the air without curving at all. Just like a phonebook isn't heavy until you have to hold one in each hand at arm's length, shoulder-high.

Default So insted of removing the TB only, just take off...

So insted of removing the TB only, just take off the whole manifold and leave the TB and other stuff attached is what your suggesting I do?
I hope my bentley will be here tomorrow so I can look at drawings and stuff.

Default It seems a lot easier to remove the intake manifold

I didn't think I could take the TB off the manifold without removing the manifold first.

And from what I recall, taking off only the TB would make it a little bit easier, but I *think* the breather hose fitting on the bottom is actually obscured by the intake manifold itself, not the TB. I could be wrong.

In fact, I could be a complete idiot, so make up your own mind for yourself... I've discovered that what seems like the easiest thing to me, often really isn't.
