Default Re: bumper cover

No BTDT with a more recent car, but typically, Audi plastic bumper covers have plastic elements "welded" to them that engage other plastic fixtures screwed onto the fender or extensions from the frame members. Item 32 below is such a fixture.

When the cover gets stressed, commonly the element on the inside of the cover or part of the fixture gets broken so that cover retention is compromised. I have a 200q20v with the inner element screwed back onto the cover with some stainless screws (not too pretty) so that it can still hang onto the fixture on the fender. This might keep you from losing the cover completely until a more complete fix is arranged. It definitely reduces bumper cover flapping.

Default Many people here have torn off their bumper cover

It's attached by 2 large brackets and a couple bolts .. very easy to re-seat. If you've broken the large brackets (item 32 in the exploded diagram), they are easy to replace as well.

Check for shredded headlight washers, if the cover is very broken.
