Well, I pulled into the parking lot up against the curb which when leaving pulled the entire front of my 99 A-8 off. In pouring rain, I stuffed it into the back seat, NOW What?? Part of it, the under side is all broken up. Any tips on how to have it fixed reasonably, are there any secret recalls re: the 2 cheap screws that seem to hold it on? Thanks for the help.

Yes that sounds like my story. I did the same thing two days after I purchased the vehicle. I was given a price over $1200 for a new bumper. A friend of mine (who owns an auto body shop) took pity on me and fixed it by puting two big screws under the license plate. I don't know exactly how he did it but it took him less than 1/2 hour to stuff everything back together such as plastic covers and washer jets. I can send you some pictures if you think it may be helpful.

I guess it depends on how much damage there is to your bumper. I just bought a front cover from a place called J&J bumpers in CT for $300. It is a factory referbished. Much better than dealer pricing. He is selling a bumper for a 2000 up A8 on ebay so search for it and you can email him that way. Ask to speak to John. Hope this helps.

Your insurance pays for things YOU do by accident, as well . it doesn't have to be some phantom guy's fault.
It isn't like you were doing donut burnouts in a Stop n Shop parking lot and hit a light pole .. as my wife is fond of saying "there is no stupidity clause in insurance, even tho people always think there is"

Audi, they can be different OR the same. Its up to the driver. BTW, I think that you are correct about the insurance companies. When you make a claim, they really do not want to hear that the other guy "got away." They want someone to go after.

Thnaks for all the great ideas. I am going to claim comp insurance, and get it fixed as cheaply as possible. I know I was stupid but Audi should forsee stupid and have a stronger bumper attachment. Bill_F
