Front wheels noise
Hy,
When i when hitting small holes in the road (), i hear a metal noise coming from the front wheels. I changed everything in the suspension, so my mechanic said that the brake disks are worn and that's why the brake calipers hit the disk when the break pedal is not pressed to hold them tight on the disk. I checked that theory, and indeed, if i hit the holes with the brake slightly pressed, the noise doesn't come anymore. So i replaced the disks...and surprise, the noise is still there. Significantly lower, but still there. Annoying... I saw that on my '96 A8, the brake assembly is not fixed as per other cars, and it moves if the brake is not pressed. Strange.
Any solutions to eliminate the noise?
THX

I had the same noise. The brake pad has three teeth that bite into the piston...
check and see that these teeth are spread and grab tightly inside. Pull them out so that it takes a little bit of work to press the pad into the piston.
I hope this helps.

Yeah, great idea, i forgot about the teeth. I think it's quite possible for this to be the cause.
