I actually just started driving the 2002 after having bought it in March. Car has 67,500 miles and I did not reset anything (just started reading owners manual).I will try a reset and take it from there. Thanks to all for your input, I never thought the A8 was for fuel efficiency but was a bit surprised at the millage I was reading since I drive this machine like a puss.

I reset my trip odo and trip computer on each fillup and usually refill when I get below 100miles left til empty. Im pretty impressed that a 4.2V8 is getting 21-22mpg on an entire tank of gas!

...but that's mostly stop and go in the city or short distances on the highway...and all with a heavy right foot!
I don't mind though, anything is better than my wife's V8 Touareg - you can literally see the needle on the fuel gauge drop as you step on it!
