Jack up car, locate the panel just underneath the rear passenger door, it coes off with a few bolts. Fuel filter is right there. Be prepared for a cup or two of fuel as you undo the 17 and 19 mm banjo bolts.
at 80,000 miles mine had a little dirt in it. Car *seems* peppier, but I didn't take any before after measurements.
While I was under there, I noticed the final drive input seal is leaking...it never ends.

Mine's just a little "wet" (not shiny...coated in road dirt) under there...most older ones are.
It's never actually dripped, so I just checked the level and topped it off...almost full after years of looking that way. Considering what the job involves and unlike the front seal that always ends up pouring gear oil onto the cat, I've chosen to ignore the rear unless it actually starts "spotting" the driveway.
Out of sight (and not critical yet) out of mind
