I've heard of a guy who drove his A8 on a long trip and when getting to his destination the fuel guage/tank was pretty close to empty. After a few hours at his new destination he went to start his A8 ( to run an errand )and it would not start. The A8 was totally "dead" in the water. Engine would not crank and no electricals would turn on and therefore when he had to have it towed to the dealership he could NOT get the transmission out of PARK and the tow company had a hell of time "dragging" his A8 onto the incline bed of the truck because there is no "little" hole near the tranmission shifter to dissengage the tranny from PARK. Is this a design flaw?
He told me that it turned out to be, that the A8 shuts itself down and won't start or crank "period", when the fuel guage gets below a certian level. He did say that Audi Techs replaced the fuel gauge sensor or re-calibrated it "lower". Audi told him, it is this way to avoid it's customer from getting stranded on the road. That doesn't sound right to me.
Anyone confirm this situation?
