Default Fuel leak

On my way to drop of the pudding at daycare and got a whiff of gasoline in the cabin. Big pool of gas by right front tire - I knew the exact location of the leak as she has done this several times before. Had visions of me slumped at the wheel in my burning Audi with kid screaming in the back (similar to the celebrity in the white Jag) so jumped into the trusty Subie.

Looks like it leaked from the same place as before. I've tightened this hose clamp many times, I believe it first started leaking when we had a very cold day some three winters ago.

Fix? Bigger clamp, bigger screwdriver , undo and clean, new car (fantasizing about a 530i e39 lately)

I'd cut a short piece off the end of the hose, to get some new uncompressed meat on the fitting and maybe try a different type clamp.

Ok will do. I assume that waiting for the pressure to drop in the fuel system will make for less fuel squirting out when I take the existing clamp off?

I would think so, but all things working correctly the system retains pressure for a long time...
10 minutes after shutting the engine off, the pressure is still supposed to be a minimum of 2.5 bar.

I'd try to wrap an absorbent rag around it as much as you can while loosening the clamp.

West Marine sells nonperforated stainless clamps, although the type Sam shows would do the job too.
