'03 S8 w/ 102500 miles. Just replaced fuel pump assy, and when tank approaches one third, it begins to starve for fuel. When I fill tank, it will not register full. Anyone else experience this problem? Mechanic thinks the tank is bad...any ideas

Did you replace the pump with a factory pump? Did he install it right? There is a spider venturi system in the tank to draw all the fuel out of the driver's side of the tank. If the wrong pump installed it will not draw the fuel from that side. If the gasket between the pump and the spider is bad or pinched it will cause the same problem.

yes, it was replaced with a factory pump bought from the dealer. My tech is a former Audi dealer tech who I would assume knows how to install the pump correctly. He mentioned the venturi system design and indicated the only fix is to replace the tank...argh
