I just made my first 1000 mile trip in the 00 A8. The computer says 26.7mpg average. When I first saw the display, I thought "That's impossible, this is a heavy car with a large, gas sucking, 4.2 litre v8."

What does everyone else get on trips?

my cumulative milage acording to the computer is about 24, mix of both city and highway with around a 500 mile range per tank.

I assume the A8 is no different. Did you keep track of the number of miles you got on a fill-up? That should be more accurate.

FWIW the A8's aluminum construction makes it not as heavy as it looks. For example the A6 4.2 is almost the same weight for a smaller car.

I believe the setting is 100 ,, change it to 110 to change it from "Audi fantasy" to "just about dead on"

At least that's what I read here on AudiWorld 8)

The mileage is definitely the biggest surprise for me since I bought the A8, I used to get 17 avg with my S4.

My average at 7.5k miles is 18.3mpg, lot of highway in there.

Or actually check a few tanks and then make a more accurate-for-your-car adjustment.
