I have it from a reliable but confidential source that one of the conditions for Britain to join the EU was that German auto manufacturers were forced to hire British electrical engineers! Apart from the history of electric engineers from Britain, they have been heard to utter "Why should we have to learn another language?". The poor communication skills of the German engineers, who are understandably upset that they have to talk English at their work place in Germany, have contributed to some of the worse reliability issues for all German cars produced over the past decade. The question remains; how long will the Germans put up with this situation and revert to creating truly well engineered cars like in the past?
