Default Gingerman Report - Short, videos and pics to follow

All I can say is WOW!

What a time!!!!!!

Went Friday night for three run sessions, about 20 minutes each with about 5 other guys on the track.....I turned down the 4th run session to bring my car home in one piece and think about the track for Saturday.

BTW, I ran into John (AKA "Wheaton" here) in South Haven on Friday, he came by Friday night and drove with me on the first time out on the track.

Went out on Saturday with Eric who is a certified instructor with ACCNA at Gingerman, he showed me the line...and another time with Johathan, a guy who I met who has a TT.

He drove with me, then I drove with him....

I did three 20 minute run sessions on Saturday morning, then after lunch another two 20 minute run sessions and a 25 minute or so run session (drove 28.5 miles on that session!). To put it in perspective, I burned 16.5 gallons of fuel on Saturday and 9.5 on Friday night! That's a lot of track time.

This was not like an Audi club event.....it was kinda like "fend for yourself" and it was fun! There were a lot of off track excursions....I was in the advanced/high power run group which had most experience....it was nice.

My car ROCKED! and Gingerman is not a boring track at all, it's very technical......

What I accomplished:

1. No off track excursions.

2. Safely in control for the whole weekend.

3. Picked up lap times, speed and shortened braking zones.

4. Did not squeal tires. I could of reduced lap times but would of been sliding the car....I just wanted to be smooth and pick up speed....

5. Did not break anything.

6. Left with my prize -- drove my car home in one piece!!!!

Jonathan has an in car video with him following me all the way around the track....will be cool once it's up on the internet!

Default Here's two short videos

I took almost no pictures, but there will be a ton of pics posted from other people, I will share them.

John took two short videos of me....the first is me on the front straight away going into turn one....it's amazing how my car turned into turn one....it just sticks.....but I'm sure I'm not going very fast here....it was my second time out:

Here's the track map

Here's one of me coming out of turn 1 and going around turn 2 and into the small straight into turn 3....

Default Its got sound....

I am uploading to my ftp so you can have a mirror. You can hear the exhuast I think. Not sure cause a fart can sounding car was covering up your sound until your car came in closer.

Default I can host them...

....my problem is limited server space (300 mb now) and 8 GB of transfer a month....but I have my boat web site that doesn't get any traffic which I host it on....

Download speed is pretty wicked, isn't it?

Default You obeyed the Three Rules, ...

Before every race, I remind Don to

1. Stay on the track
2. Stay out of trouble
3. Remember rules 1 & 2

Sounds like you had a great time; just reading this first report gets me physched up for Grattan in two weeks. And if you think Gingerman is not a boring track and very technical, just wait for Mid-Ohio in June!

BTW: While it's all fresh in your mind, how about sitting down with the full-length video and writing a "One Lap at Gingerman" for audipages?
