Has anyone had issues with glass sensitivity without major temp differential? I have cracks in both the windscreen and rear passenger windows and neither were caused by any impact. They cracked on separate dates and the only thing in common was that it was cool morning (40 F) and sunny with part of the glass in shadow and the other in bright sunshine. The windscreen started as just a small crack from passenger lower corner and the rear window has made a U shape starting from leading edge and terminating on leading edge. I have never seen either happen without an impact. Both happened while car sitting in my driveway and no others around. I live out in the country where nobody would have messed with the car.

Both pieces of glass factory?
If you follow the crack, especially on the windscreen to both ends of the crank, most likely you will find where a stone or something else has impacted it. It may be very small but it will be there. The glass won't just crack from one side being in 40F and the other in sunshine. That's not a "major" temperature differential either.

All glass is original to me having only owned the car for 10.5 years (its a 98 A8 Q). Both cracked pieces have the Audi 4 rings logo and sekurit. I have looked many times and no apparent impact or chips in glass. I do live in the country off a long gravel county road which gets a lot of washboard areas. The constant jarring has definitely caused the cracks to grow and possibly with cold temperatures and just the right conditions cause a spontaneous stress point and fracture. That's the best guess I have.
