Odo now reading 5030 miles.
So far, my only issue is that Audi delayed the release of the satellite radio.
other than that. Not a single gremlin or issue whatsoever.
found something cool: While the car is turned off, turn on the radio by pressing down the radio volume button. MMI display pops up with a very nice startup screen. unforuntately, it doesn't do it all the time.
FYI: owner's manual states that 0W-30 was put into our cars from the factory.
otherwise, manual states that you can use 5W-30 or 5W-40.
Hope everyone is enjoying their '04s!

But I'm up here in the Seattle/Vancouver area
for a few weeks, so maybe you can pass my total.
So is it 5K or 6 months, whichever comes first, for the first service? If it's just 5K, it'll be spring before I need to take my car in ;-)

Thanks for the update Jee. I've got 2100 miles so far (serial 8170-picked up 22October 2003) and I've had absolutely no problems with mine at all. I love the car and keep coming up with excuses to drive somewhere. I agree with you that the satellite system is annoying but hope we will be able to retrofit into our 04's soon.

Jee - As I recall you are in N - NJ as I am. I wondered who you are using for service.
I had a recent bad experience with Jack Daniels with my 2001 S8 and am hoping mine is just an isolated incident of treating an S8 owner like they own a old golf. Or if you have better experience with another dealer I'd luv to hear about it.

I purchased the car from Town so I decided to bring it to them. I'll let you know how it turned out.
So far, so good. I brought in my own Mobil 1 (2 six packs of 5W-30). I believe the A8 takes eight quarts with a filter change. Let's see how much they give back.
I also requested that they DO NOT WASH my car. I don't like ANY dealers' attempts at making my car look clean.
Only bad thing is that Audi only gives you $30 towards a loaner car. So, if your dealer uses a third party rental agency (in my case, Enterprise), all that gets you is a econobox. I opted for paying $30 extra and getting a Jag X-Type 3.0. Computer system already tells Enterprise what car I own so the Enterprise agent apologetically told me that it's the best luxury car they have but that it wouldn't even come close to the A8. Good thing I got it too cause it started to snow when I walked outside. Cute car but not for me.

here in the States. I've seen a black Phaeton up here, but that's been it. I'm sorta amazed that I haven't seen one in the Dallas area. Back in early October, the dealer in Plano had sold 15 A8L's already, so I know that there are a few around. Of course staying in town would help.
