Default Going to start pulling the car apart soon

I got the wiring harness from Ted for the RNS-E and all my other mods. I spent a lot of time on the plane marking up wiring diagrams to do the changes required.

After looking at the wiring harness, all I can say is WOW!!!! It is soooo nice. You would not believe how Ted has integrated everything into one harness. I need to make very few connections.

I am taking pictures along the way and will post a write up when I'm done. I still need to get a multi function steering wheel control module, bluetooth control module and bluetooth antenna.

I am hoping to find a multi function steering wheel control module used, just need an 02 or 03 A8 with the wheel (or 03 S8) in a junk yard.....they all had it, it's the same part as an A6 had.

When I'm done, we'll have to look at the facelift cars and come up with a really nice mod to put the factory bluetooth module in them.....however, you'll need the multi function steering wheel. It would be easiest on cars with a Symphony II radio because the car already has the CAN bus infotainment system and CAN bus MFSW.

Default Paul: I really am envious of your abilities. You rock!

I, on the other hand still have VCR's blinking 12:00 in my domicile. You guys keep on doing and publishing your deeds and I will be content to live and read of your exploits! Go man!

Default A few pictures from tonight

Was oh so tired this afternoon after travel, but I did get out in the garage this afternoon for probably 2 hours.

I have spent A LOT of time looking at wiring diagrams, developing the wiring changes from the tiptronic wheel, to a multi function wheel that uses CAN bus wiring.

I've got this nice three ring binder I have printed everything out, made all my notes, and have the RNS-E install procedure published by NSXJR.....excellent procedure, but for an A6.

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/sm_IMG_1697.JPG">

I pulled the instrument cluster, installed the GPS antenna in front of the cluster, in my garage it works awesome!

Put the sound proofing back in and used the nice factory wiring holder just above the instrument cluster.....

Extra wiring taken up, used a wire tie hanger, and wire tied it (plus the sticker) to the support so it won't come off.

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/sm_IMG_1681.JPG">

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/sm_IMG_1682.JPG">

Ran Ted's custom wiring harness from the back of the RNS-E along the same route....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/sm_IMG_1686.JPG">

The HUGE harness disconnects where it goes to the back of the car....

What you see here are the grey and orange that get hooked into the instrument cluster, this is where the CAN bus is tapped into....

The small ten pin connector at 1 O'clock is the multi function steering wheel connector, I have the other side, it has six wires to help integrate the MFSW.

The wires on the left are the CAN and K wire to run to the trunk, they will be needed to bring the bluetooth phone data to the CAN bus, and K wire to talk to both the bluetooth and XM module in order to code them. The purple is the reverse wire.

The GPS antenna was not previously hooked up, it is now and works great, so the Nav system is working...

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/sm_IMG_1687.JPG">

It's pretty cool, it has an active route to Downers Grove, you can see the three route options you can choose, you just rotate the select **** to the route you want an hit enter...

Tomorrow to figure out the CAN wiring, others have had problems with the Nav system not talking to the dash, I am trying to figure that out before I make my connections.

This sound great! I was about to make a post soon to inquire about the RNS-E in the A8/S8, as I've seen some conflicting information. Which unit are you getting to incorporate into your S? Where can I obtain the wiring harness that you speak of, and is that pretty much all that is needed to do a conversion?

Default Start here

I've been posting for a few weeks, answered most of those questions which are a lot of questions. I would just watch this board for the next few weeks.
