Good Luck/Bad Luck Hit a deer and need some parts.
I guess driving 35 years through the northeast Pennsylvania countryside and never hitting a deer until last night is to be considered lucky. I felt even luckier when the only damage was my right from head light. There is not a single mark on any painted surface, just a shattered clear glass lens. Even behind the lens seems to have made it through unscathed.
I knew it would not be cheap but I must say I was taken aback by the price. Audi tells me I need to replace the whole assembly since its a single part number (4D0-941-004-AF) and it costs $422.75. I guess you dont replace your headlight if a rock kicks up and chips it.
This is where I need help from the list. Anyone have contact information for a 1997 A8 part car with a right front headlight for sale?

I have one spare headlight glass...
...it is new, I bought it from Germany, you can buy just the glass there.
I will have to look which side it is, but I think the passenger side.
3 of the 8 pieces got when I ordered them broke on the way over, so I was left with just one glass piece, the other two sets were sold.
If you want it, I'll sell it for $80 including shipping.

The Bad News: I was 70+ mph when hit a deer on the Pa Turnpike last week ...
The Good News: I wasn't the first one to hit him. Of the three main body parts, I did hit the largest one with my left side tires. Luckily there was no damage at all from hitting this brown furry speed bump at speed.
And today, 16 dead deer on a 20 mile stretch of I70 west of Washington, Pa; eight on one side and eight on the other, all singles (plus three deer still walking along the shoulder).
