Default Has anybody added a homelink visor to a 2000 A8?

I really miss the homelink feature my S4 has. Is there a cheaper alternative to adding the homelink visor than paying the dealer $400? Maybe a junk yard or parts store or something?

Isn't there a way that I could incorporate the function into my dash? Maybe with the automatic headrest button or the unused button? I would want to lose my auto sunshade button. Thanks.

Looks like a lot of work, and would it work with a 2000?

Default Garage door hack - I'm doing it now....

Does the battery stay in the remote ? It's only drawing power for backlighting correct ?

Default Pin outs ?

The switch I got (for a 2000) is the same part number with a "B" on the end. The pins are not exposed but are buried inside a molex type connection. I can cut the plastic and expose them. They're labled 1-6. Isn't this only a 4 wire hook up ?

Default Battery only powers the opener; getting instrument lighting powefrom an adjacent switch, and

daisy chain it over to the new dash garage door switch. So there are 4 connections on the switch, two go to the opener, two go to the "tap" connectors that grab a ground and instrument lighting powre.

BTW, I did a similar hack on the wife's Boxster, using the knock-out for a seat heater control switch. The garage door opener has been buried in the console for 2-1/2 years, and is still going strong on the original battery.
