Default Has S8 market officially tanked?

In an effort to still try and sell my S8 I may find myself keeping it. Two 2001 reasonably priced S8's on ebay received no bids this week. Starting price was $15k. At under $20k I thought these cars are a great deal, under $15k brings depreciation a whole new meaning.

Default I think so

And it was about 1 month after I bought my car that I really, really saw them drop.

However, not too many out there with 63K miles.

There is a newly listed 02 black/black with alcantara on ebay today with 65K or so that looks really nice.

Probably like your car.

Default lots of people feeling a pinch right now.. if you can wait it out, you'll find a buyer.

Not that I'm saying the R word, but have you noticed the volume of broadcast TV adverts dropping by one of the most prolific ad buyers?

that's Automakers..Auto sales have diminished.. and not just me saying but people I know in NYC broadcast, saying the Auto ad rate drop hasn't been seen in years.

Just seems like a buyers market for used cars, that's all..

Default Re: looks like my S8

Buyers market it seems. WOW $90+k in 2001 to this. The one on ebay looks to be identical to mine, we'll she how she goes. Mine has sunroof, parktronic and a phatnoise installed. Not sure about that one on ebay from pics.

Default While I dislike $70 fill-ups...

Most people are not fully aware that fuel costs (if you drive the car 10-15K/year)are less a contributor to the total cost of ownership (depreciation, tires, insurance, maint. parking fees blah blah)than they might think. You are just more aware of the fuel aspect. How much is it worth to drive something with some crush distance and good passive safety? And nice seats? And reasonable power at highway speeds. And the very helpful people here.

My wife was talking about replacing her car (17 mpg on short trip driving and 23-4 at 70 mph) with something smaller and I was able to show that the first couple of years payback would not even cover tax and title fees. She will look at the data however. I give her credit. And, we were able to put 4 pieces of 12' sheetrock on top of her present car, ML320, a small-car ruleout for sure.
