Im looking for some guidance in choosing a hands free cell phone setup for my 2003 S8. The previous owner was using a handheld with the blueant bluetooth system, however I would like to be able to use the factory handsfree, speaker, mike and steering wheel controls. Paul W has a great writeup for the A8 but I am unsure how much pertains to the S8. Do I need to retrofit bluetooth (parrot or motorola) to the S8? Are there any new motorola phones that are plug and play with the existing wiring (I believe that it originally came with a V60.) There is alot of info on handsfree kits in the archive but I thought that the s8 was already wired. I have rudimentary soldering skills but am useless at reading schematics or creating harnesses. I hope one of the more electronically capable listers can point me to a kit or harness system so I can reinstall a portable cell and retain the factory features. I dont have any great brand loyalty but Audi seems to favour motorolla

That would use the factory mic and some of the existing wiring.
You have a telematics box under the rear hat shelf that you could get Ted Basile to make a custom plug and play wiring harness.
You would need to buy a factory bluetooth module, bluetooth antenna (about $400 for both as I recall) and then need to do the plug and play harness from Ted, plus maybe hook up a few other wires, but that's very doubtful.
You would be able to use your steering wheel controls to control the bluetooth module, it absolutely the best system (have it in my car with the RNS-E head unit).
If you are interested, I might take a look at it and develop schematics and work with Ted for the harness.
