Default Home Link

Hi,
I need some help, please.
The Home Link garage door opener could not be programed, I have tried for more then 45 minutes following the manual instructions but still no luck. I have a Chamberlain Lift Master Professional system to open my garage doors, any special tricks/procedures?
Thanks a lot

Default One suggestion

I once had an issue programming home link. I had to hold the remote I was learning from a good distance away from the homelink. If you're holding it too close it won't work right some times.

I also found out just this week that Chamberlain has a new coding technology not compatible with older remotes and vice versa. I have a one year old Chamberlain basic opener bought from Home Depot. I bought a new remote at HD this week only to find out it doesn't work with mine due to the new technology they're using. Could be the same deal with home link.

I read If it has rolling codes then it requires extra steps. How did it finally work?

Default Have LiftMaster too, with rolling codes. Have tried to program to now avail. It's not just

the Audi, since it's not working for my wife's Lexus, so I'll keep on trying from different distances of approach to the garage...

Default Are you guys pressing the button on the garage door head unit?

You have to press the "learn" button on the garage door head unit (put a ladder up to get there), then you activiate your homelink system on your car, then you push the button again on the head unit.....

Something like that. Kimberly's A4 has it and it took me a while to figure out that the instructions in the manual either weren't right or not easy to follow.

Just got a new garage door opener installed today, will have to reprogram hers....

It can be done!!! ;-)

Default Are you saying to learn homelink, then learn the garage and learn on the garage again? I tried to...

learn the garage only once and no luck.

Was able to program the remote lights in my home : )

Default HOME LINK

Paul is right, the manual is not very helpful, you have to do both steps,I was only doing one or another, then it came to my mind that "maybe" I should do both and it worked. I first activated the home link then the "learn" button...

Default I think you are now on the right page

I will recode Kimberly's car in a day or so, I will post how I did it....took about 20 minutes to figure it out.

But you have to do the head unit, then your car, then the head unit to command it.

It essentially programs the ESN of the opener to the head unit.

I only did the the car first then the head unit and it worked, the manual says that you may need to do the head unit a couple of times... if necessary.
