Here's a new one. I always have a new one.
When going a reasonable speed (40 mph) and hitting a rough patch of road, the hood on the driver's-side pops up. It doesn't unlatch on the passenger side, and doesn't release, it just winds up unsecured on the driver's side. Any ideas?

Looking at the passenger side front of the hood in the first pic, notice that the front edges of the hood and fender don't line up ...
the hood is higher. The 2nd pic shows how it should be. In my case, that up-side-down mushroom-shaped latching device was
unscrewing itself on the passenger side. I screwed it back in until the alignment was correct and then retightened the lock not.
In your case, perhaps that mushroom-shaped thing is screwed too far in on the driver's side and never completely latches when
you close the hood.

It looks like it's closed, but it isn't. If you close it a bit firmer there's no problem. (firmer from a careful person's point of view that is - i.e. not smashing it). ;-)

There are two pins, driver-side and passenger side on the hood itself. I adjusted the pin on the driver's side by loosening it, turning it a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise. This lowers the pin so it will penetrate further into the hole (that sounds so dirty!) and the hood will be secured in place.
Before I could lift it up with my fingers. After the adjustment I could not.
