How do our 5-speed Tiptronics work ? Where are the lock-ups etc. ?
I noticed that there is a 3-low and 3-high when driving in the city.
Why is this tranny then still being referred to as "5 speed" while there are actually six imho ?
Where do lock-ups take place ?
Is a lockup really without slip at all (a real fixed shaft connection) ?

The Transmission Control Module dtermines shift points and lock-up based on several inputs and the controller programming.
Sorry, They don't make it easy do they.

3Low/Hi=When accel.slowly, goes from 2->3. Then an upshift but still in 3rd. Then goes to 4. When
accelerating faster it goes from 2 -> 3 -> 4 straight away. So it skips that "in between up-shift" in 3rd and goes to 4.
2 -> 3 -> an rpm-drop (and feels like up-shifting) still in 3rd -> 4 -> 5
