Default How do you loosen tensioner for serpentine belt replacement?

A while back my serpentine popped off from bottoming out in a field. My friend has been trying to replace it without luck. He said when trying to loosen the adjusting screw for the tensioner that it won't budge and that it is hard to get a wrench on it. Is the fan required to be taken off for this process? If so, what is the simplest way to take it off?

Default did you check out audipages.com?

In the timing belt replacement section, they tell you how to replace the serpentine belt.

Default There needs to be a line at the top of A8 forum thread header pages:

"If you have a question about 1997-2003 A8's, please go see if it is answered at Audipages.com before asking it here."
