but I've found that the MPG is extremely accurate. What needs to change is the gallons the computer think the tank holds. My manual says it hold 23, plus a 4 gallon reserve. Mine usually gets to zero with only 21 gallons burned.

The theory being that fresh gas being pumped in from the top will stir up the water and particulates from the bottom of the tank. I have seen a few tanks removed after long service and they had a heavy layer of crud in them. If there was ever a "no smoking" situation that was it!

I don't sweat until I go below 5....and that's if there are no gas stations around....
