Default How Many S8s in the US?

I understand they made 600 in 01, 600 in 02 and 300 in 03. Is that worldwide? How many of them were sold in the US? I read somewhere that only about 90 per year were sent to North America, but there seems to be a number of them for sale used. So I'm wondering.

Default S8= brembo$$$$$ costly to replace???

I saw an ad stating 300 in the US for an 03 S8.

How costly are S8 brake jobs, and how long can the pricey brembos last? I'd love to have an S8, but after doing my A8q brakes every 20k miles, it would nullify having the extra 60 horses via the extra damage to my wallet. S8 models have special calipers, so I doubt cheapo rotors would work.

Default Long term: Cost to maintain Brembo's is probably less

Pads for the Brembo's probably cost $50 more, but if you're paying by the hour, labor cost to change Brembo pads is probably half. I haven't heard of anyone ever replacing the Brembo's rotors (they are larger than A8 rotors).

Take a look at the two procedure, the A8 Pad Replacement is not difficult, but the S8 Pad Replacement is borderline trivial.

For '01 and '02, I've heard 300 and 600. Perhaps it was 300 U.S. and 600 worldwide, and 90 to the U.S in '03?

Default cost me nothing

i got new pads & rotors under warranty to fix a niggling squeal at around 100km/hr (see thread last month). based on the lack of collaborative experience from other s8 owners, i'd say that this is not symptomatic of the s8 audi/brembo brakes on the s8.

they are fabulous brakes, and complement the s8 extremely well.
