Default Hunting and Dropout Fix, Dealership Style! Free too!

I called up Audi of America to find out if there was anyway to fix it.. Low and behold September this year there was a recall.. Recall is related to some whizbang cable on transmission. Go get it replaced STAT! not only does it fix hunting if not addressed your car can fly out of gear when parked with no keys in. And if you live in San Fransisco you can end up with a Audi going movie style...

Enjoy the Fix!<ul><li><a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsummary.cfm?rcl_campaign_id=08V397000&amp;pr od_id=203916&amp;moduletype=VEHICLE&amp;make=AUDI& amp;model=A8&amp;veh_model_year=1998&amp;searchtyp e=DrillDown">SAFETY RECALL</a></

Default how could that fix the hunting issue? I'll bet they did some sort of adaption sequence as part

of the repair that will work temporarily.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think this will stick long term.

Default I have no idea how it fixed it...

but the hunting is no longer there.. I cannot get it to do it so something changed..

The shifting acts different and many other things. I guess I could call the dealer and find out exactly what they did.

Default Have an idea?

If the battery were disconnectd long enough to reinitialize the ECM and TCM, the symptoms of "hunting and thumping" may be put off while the control modules "relearn" (bad habits and all). Some of us have seen short lived transmission performance improvements after a battery disconnect.

Drive it a while, then file another report.

regards

^^^I agree with that. My hunting disappeared after a battery change. Then reappeared. ^^^

Default I had the battery die not too long ago

After that it immediately hunted again.. No relearning there. Also they did not disconnect battery I do not think as the radio code is at home and no need to re-enter it.

Default Radio codes are not a secret to the dealer

I hope everything is fixed for you.

More importantly we all would like to know what was "fixed" Please ask the service person.

Please!

regards
