I finally took a long distance cruise in my S8...what a treat!

After owning the S8 for roughly a year and a half I finally had the opportunity to stretch her legs a bit...a 600 mile round trip journey to be exact.
I did learn that I had to set the cruise control, otherwise my speed would slowly, but continually start creeping higher - this thing is rock solid at speed and to be honest, I kinda thought she was taunting me; daring me; begging me..."go faster!" Why oh why did they have to shut down the US autobahn (I loved the period that Montana essentially had no speed limit!). I would have loved to let her run wild, but I was seeing patrol cars far too frequently to open her up.
With that said, I will admit that every time I stepped on the accelerator to make a pass it was like an adrenaline rush - simply amazing the power at speed to get up and go! Very addicting it is...
I love this car!

I picked mine up in Dallas and drove back to New Orleans. I'm used to a C6 A6 3.2 which has great highway legs, but was very pleasantly surprised by the torque factor from 80 on up. After 2000 miles in the first 2 weeks of ownership, the car is everything I expected it to be and more. Passing slower moving traffic on 2 lane country roads has just become much more interesting.

I am with you on the long drives. I owned an A6 before I bought the S8 and I can say that the A6 is a nice car, but for pure adrenaline highway thumping the S8 is far and away more of a ride.
I read a description on the internet that it is like a "Linebacker in a Tuxedo." Perfect statement.
Power with pure class.
